Ski touring in the Rofan

Two classic objectives: the Bärenkopf (1,991 m, moderate, 4 km, about 3 hrs, 1,100 m of ascent), starting from the car park at the Seehotel St. Hubertus in Pertisau — and the Vorderunnütz (2,078 m, easy, 6.4 km, about 3.5 hrs, 1,050 m of ascent), starting at Steinberg am Rofan. Push on to the Seekarlspitze and you are rewarded with one of the finest panoramas in the region. Safety first, though: three avalanche transceiver checkpoints stand in Achenkirch itself — at the Falkenmoos car park, at the entrance to the Unterautal and by the Achenseehof.
